Carroll Hut you beauty!

Just a tad past Otira (or before depending on your direction of travel!) you’ll cross Kelly’s Creek. Take a hard left and park at the base carpark. From there, it’s essentially straight up with some hefty rooty & rocky scrambles. It took us (with 4 kids) just over 3 hours to reach the hut which sleeps 10 (20 on a good night!). Take a tent or shelter though as this is one very popular walk. We saw between 20 & 30 people over the course of the weekend. Some stayed, some continued but she was a busy place! (& this is while borders are closed too). Great to see so many kiwi’s out and taking advantage of these quieter times for sure.
